After choosing your units and specifying a beam length. The next step is to define your section(s) along the span of the beam.
You can choose standard steel sections from many countries around the world. These countries include: US, Canada, Australia, British, and Europe.
Once the standard steel section is chosen, you will find the section properties are automatically filled, now you will just need to click on Add Section button and it will be added to your beam model.
Next to the Stored Section dropdown, choose New Section and you can specify any custom cross-section and material by inputing a few properties.
Custom sections can be saved for future beam models by clicking on the Add to Database button. They will become available in the Stored Section dropdown for any future beam model you are working on.
You can define different cross-sections along the beam span. This can be done by determining the location of the cross-section along the span of your beam. You can then add other cross-sections at different spans along your beam.
As you define multiple sections, you will find them in the model summarized in a table. From this table, you can edit or delete defined sections.
